Pac-Land is a side-scrolling 1-2 player game with a cartoony feel to it. Now equipped with arms, face, and legs, Pac must guide a fairy back to her home in Fairy Land, but this task will not be easy because Inky, Blinky, Pinky, Clyde, and Sue will pursue Pac-Man as he travels through Pac-Land. When he finally transports the fairy back to her home, Pac is given some magic shoes, which will help him get to his own home, where he will be greeted by his family: Ms. Pac-Man, Baby Pac-Man, Chomp Chomp, and Sourpuss. There are sixteen rounds to complete, with four trips each. During each round, he can grab a power pellet, which cause ghosts to turn blue, allowing Pac-Man to eat them for points. Points are also awarded by collecting fruit that appear, like cherries and strawberries. In some rounds, Pac must use a springboard to jump over a lake. He must also make it to the end of each round before time runs out, otherwise a ghost will chase him.

Additional bonus points Complete a level. You will be at the "BREAK TIME" screen. Now when the music stops at the "BREAK TIME" screen, jump. As long as Pac-Man is still in the air when the game stops, you will earn an additional 10-7650 bonus points along with the bonus points you get for the remaining time that wasn't used while in a level. The amount of points you get depends on how close Pac-Man is to the ground when he lands without touching it. You can do this at the end of every level. Pac-Man with L item First, make sure 4 ghosts are on the screen. Then, move a little bit to the left so Sue (The purple ghost that appears if you stand around, go left, etc.) appears on the screen. Eat a Power Pellet (The Power Pellet MUST be on the screen with the 5 ghosts), then eat all ghosts except for Sue. When you have eaten 4 ghosts, eat Sue (Sue MUST be the fifth ghost eaten). A small Pac-Man icon with an L will appear. Collect this item and you will earn additional points and the time limit icons on the top of the screen will be completely refilled, giving you more time to search the levels. Purple flower In any Round (level), wait until you have run out of time. "TIME OUT" will appear on the top left of the screen and a purple flower will fall from the top of the screen. Collect the flower and 300 points will be added to your score. This is the only way to get this rare item. Push fire hydrants, stumps and cactuses for bonus items In towns, you can move certain hydrants to get blue helmets. In forests and water levels, you can push certain stumps or cactuses to get flowers. In deserts, you can push certain cactuses for flowers. Finally, in mountains you can push certain stumps to release balloons. In towns, mountains and deserts you can also push a second hydrant, stump or cactus for flowers. In mountain levels it's random: you may get a Pac-Man icon with an S instead of a flower. Blue helmet: This will protect Pac-Man from the little ghosts that ghosts in planes drop. Flower: Collect one and you will get 300 points. Balloon: Many balloons of different colors will appear. Most of them will give you 100 points, but one of them gives you 7650 points. Pac-Man with S: This is a 1-up. Here are some of the levels you can push hydrants, stumps, and cactuses and what you get you get for pushing the object (Note: the hydrant, stump, etc. you push is not listed because the one you are able to push is random): Round 1: One of the hydrants has a blue helmet. Another has a flower. Round 2: Find the stump you can push. Push the stump and a flower will drop from the top of the screen (Famicom/NES version only). Round 4: Push a stump and either a flower or a Pac-Man with S icon will appear. Find the other stump you can push and balloons will appear. Round 5: Push a cactus to the left and a flower will appear. |
